The Bachelor of Art + Design is a four-year, broadly-baseed interdisciplinary undergraduate educational experience. It emphasizes the development of creative thinking and problem solving skills as they apply to emerging areas in the media arts, as well as the traditional areas of fine arts and design. We encourage students to consider multicultural models in their conceptual investigations in order to formulate more expansive and innovative solutions to contemporary issues. Through flexible curriculum structure, course sequencing, and close work with faculty advisors, students plan their own optimal course sequences.
The degree provides an opportunity for students who wish to combine the unique course offerings of Art + Design in the areas of: media arts, textile design, and traditional art + design with other existing degree tracks within the College of Design. Students select 15- or 18-credit-hour areas of concentration outside the departmental offerings to complement their major studies, thus taking advantage of the range and diversity of the College's offerings. For those students who are not interested in majoring in Art + Design but think they would benefit from taking hands-on courses in art + design the Department offers the Art + Design minor. |
