Dana Raymond

Dana Raymond has pursued numerous research interests that inspire creative sculpture activities and enhance his teaching. Three examples of this research are the Dutch windmills, experimental airplanes, and traditional Japanese architecture. The Dutch windmills and Japanese wood construction are direct inspirations for his sculptural creations. Flying small airplanes (which started as a personal enjoyment and a challenge) led to airplane construction (mechanical systems and fabrications processes).

Professor Raymond has shown sculptural objects extensively all over the state of North Carolina and in Maine. He has also designed, constructed, and installed site-specific sculptures and installations in Raleigh, N.C., and Big Rapids, Mich. These work display interests in both kinetic and static forms.
